While Todd English was busy being a sous chef for Dale on the season finale of Top Chef, I was enjoying his (actually, I should say his executive chefs') dishes at two different Todd English restaurants.
First, on Saturday, I joined some girlfriends at Tuscany at Mohegan Sun. I don't normally choose lamb, but I had the rack of lamb with vegetable panini, couscous yogurt. Tuscany also features some yummy flatbread pizzas and one was enough for all six of us. We shared the Garganelli - herb ricotta and mozzarella, spicy roasted tomatoes. It was a bit to spicy for me though. One of my friends had the Gnocchi which also looked very good.
Red Sox Game Day Bar Menu at Bonfire, Park Plaza
Well, the Sox are up 2 to 1 in the second inning of the 5th game of the ALCS. If the Indians win, you'll have to wait till next season to try the 'ballpark treats with a twist' that Bonfire offers on game days. Jason and I joined some friends on Monday evening. The Sox lost, but my belly was happy after the Pesky Pole Kobe corn dog with chipotle ketchup and pickle mustard relish! I'll admit that I seldom come across a hotdog that I don't like, but this was SO good. The batter on the corn dog was very light but the dog was thick with a snappy skin. Yum! See pics above pulled from BostonHerald.com.
We also had Big Papi Bonfire nachos with avocado crème, black bean puree and pico de gallo and Green Monster guacamole. Everything on the menu was under $15 - but the drinks made the night a bit pricey.

Ciao Bella. While you are eating at Tuscany in Mohegan sun, your sister is eating in the real tuscany. I'm sure our meals were comparable. we ate at a restaurant in Pienza [in tuscana] i began with bean salad with really salty proscuitto and pecorino [tuscan goat cheese, dont worry-there is some in the fridge that i am saving for when you all get here! i hope it lasts that long!] second course of picili noodles [a little heavier than norm. noodles] in a red sauce. definately homemade noodles-mmm. then "veal" which tasted more like pork to me- it was really thick and stringy. it was in a barbeque-like sauce that was a little thick. on the side we had normal ensalada which was just ok- the tomatoes here are fantastic but the lettuce itself was real bitter. then for dessert i had macadonia- a winter fruit salad with apples and pears and kiwi. delish...and free!! hopefully our meals here top that! the tuscan countryside was amazing- i have so many pictures to share! they are on the way!
ps. lets go tribe ;)
